“Its why I havent flown commercial since 1996. If I cant drive there (I also CCW), Im not going.”

Well, I forget the exact statistic, but I think you are about seven times more likely to die in a car crash.
My last three flights were on Qatar, a Muzie airline.
They are not likely to kill their own.
By the way, Qatar, along with a few other muzie airlines, rank in the top five airlines of the world.
American carriers do not even make it in the “also ran” category....sad.
Statistically, it IS much safer to fly than drive; I agree. But I don’t like not being in control of what I’m doing/riding in. Just me.
Lots of articles & numbers here to affirm what you said:
There is a youtube video of a time lapse look at the entire world. You can see parts of the planet go from darkness to daylight.
It shows, as a moving yellow dot, the flight of every logged flight in the world. You can see the sparse traffic as the sun sets and the traffic pick up as the sun rises. You can see the “highways in the sky” from california and Seattle to hawaii and many others. But the continents become almost solid yellow in daylight.
The amount of traffic is staggering. This happens every single day. Yet how many commercial airliner crashes have there been in the last 20 years?
I’ve been in severe turbulence and say to my fellow passengers, “this is the part of the ride you should have to pay extra for”. It’s a blast.
