Anne Patterson is being made into the scapegoat. She is the President's personal representative to the Egyptian government. She is the messenger and does not act independently when it comes to policy formulation. Her direction comes from the WH, NSC, and the State Department.

I have worked with Anne and have great respect for her integrity and professionalism. I fear for her personal safety. There needs to be a new Ambassador as soon as possible in recognition of the new government and new direction we will be taking with it.

Patterson entered the Foreign Service in 1973.

She served as a US State Department Economic Officer and Counselor to Saudi Arabia from 1984 to 1988 and then as a Political Counselor at the United States Mission to the United Nations in Geneva from 1988 to 1991.

Patterson served as State Department Director for the Andean Countries from 1991 to 1993. She served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Inter-American Affairs from 1993 to 1996.

Patterson served as United States Ambassador to El Salvador from 1997 to 2000, and then as United States Ambassador to Colombia from 2000 to 2003. While ambassador to Colombia, Patterson and U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone were the alleged targets of a failed bomb plot while on an official visit to the Colombian town of Barrancabermeja. From 2003 to 2004 Patterson served as Deputy Inspector General of the US State Department.

In August 2004, Patterson was appointed Deputy U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Patterson became acting Permanent Representative to the United Nations after John Danforth resigned, effective January 20, 2005. An extended delay in the confirmation of John R. Bolton by the Senate (ending when Bolton assumed the position on August 1, 2005, after a recess appointment) caused Patterson to served as interim permanent representative longer than expected.

Patterson became Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs on November 28, 2005, serving until May 2007. President George W. Bush appointed Patterson as the United States Ambassador to Pakistan after Ryan Crocker left that post to become Ambassador to Iraq. She served in Pakistan between July 2007 and October 2010.

I have not worked with Anne and I am sure she is a nice person who has been feeding at the public trough all her working life, who has served so many different administrations that she certainly has lost whatever scruples she started with, and Hillary, the bonehead politico in charge, put a woman to be the ambassador to a rabid Muslim country. Nice plan. Just retire on a fat government pension already.

Professional bureaucrats, especially ones in the State Department, deserve only scorn.

So sick of hearing about these pukes who’ve spent their entire adult life suckling on the teat of the American taxpayer.

Government should never be a career. Work in the private sector and spend a few years in government service. Then get lost and stay lost.

I agree. I worked for both Amb Patterson and Amb Crocker. While Patterson has strong connections with Hilabeast (I believe they went to school together), and is not of the same metal as Crocker, she is not an unreasonable diplomat. She was dealt a very, very bad hand with no room to maneuver; certainly not with the current administration and the current and former Secretaries of State.

All things considered, she is the wrong person for the job. But so is Kerry, and so is Barky.

Anne Patterson sucked up to Muzzie Brotherhood way too much and I could care less what her orders were. She should not have done so. We have too many leftist pukes at State, they dominate State and have done so for a long time. You may tell me she is not a leftsist coddler of Muzzie Brottherhood but by her actions this is what she was and is,

She bet on the wrong horse and will probably get yanked anyhow for serving her Jug Eared master

Yes, she and many others in the career civil and foreign services have become pawns (many eagerly, some reluctantly or obtusely) of the Washington DC branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. She’s “only following orders” and thus bears no personal responsibility?

Thank you for the perspective on her. We should always refrain from shooting the messenger. It is the policy we should be focused on.
