What exactly is your point? Anne Patterson is a career diplomat who represents the official views of the USG. She is not an independent agent. She is responsible for implementing US foreign policy.
Career diplomats serve the President and the USG regardless of who is in the WH. If someone has a deep disagreement with that policy and cannot support it, then they can resign. Some have over our policies in Vietnam or the invasion of Iraq.
I don't lump Patterson and Obama together when it comes to who is to blame for our foreign policy mistakes and bilateral relations with Egypt. Obama is responsible period.

My point is that if she disagreed with the policy, she would have resigned, or at least asked not to serve in that capacity. She signed on, took the money, she gets the credit and the blame. She obviously has done nothing substantial to ameliorate the disastrous effects of Obama’s policies. The man on the street in Egypt shouldn't ever know her name
