You can disagree with policy and still serve your country without resigning. How many generals or admirals have resigned under Obama?

Usually, ambassadors don't get the credit or the blame. They just act as intermediaries between governments.

She obviously has done nothing substantial to ameliorate the disastrous effects of Obama’s policies. The man on the street in Egypt shouldn't ever know her name.

You don't understand the role and function of an Ambassador. If they don't implement the foreign policy of the USG, they can be fired or relieved. And some have. Look up Hume Horan who was used as a scapegoat by Bush 41.

They know her name because she has become the face of the Obama's policies. She is the messenger.

(1) Only if the career is more important than your principles.
(2)Not Enough.
(3)I remember Hume Horan. Sometimes you have to take one for the team. Like Amb. Patterson needs to do.
(4) There is a way to pursue your government’s objectives
while incurring the least resistance. There is a word for it...Diplomacy.
She needs to resign in order to serve her country. That’s what she signed up to do. And she gets a nice pension, too.
