All of that death and destruction for what?
We are all chummy now with the Germans and the Japs, and thousands of Americans died for nothing.
Unlike the ragheads, who we will never be friendly with unless we westernize them by force, I'm not a big fan of getting peoples kids killed in a fight with an enemy that we are allied with soon after.
There is some truth in that.
All of that death and destruction for what?
German and Japanese fascism simply had to be stopped. Pat Buchanan feels that WW II was a mistake, as Hitler and Tojo really did not want to conquer the world. Here I would disagree with Pat.
I'm trying to figure out what you're saying... We've made "friends" of our former enemies after kicking their collective asses, and have (mostly, up till Obama) friendly relations with them.
Are you saying that once we achieved victory over Germany and Japan we should have enslaved them, or wiped them off the face of the earth? Or just set up a Treaty of Versailles, PT2? As opposed to the Marshall Plan, force them to rebuild themselves AND pay us reparations? I'm not trying to be an ass here, but given your above statement, I'm wondering just what you mean?
