We are endowed by our creator the right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not a right to vote. The US constitution does not deal directly with the right to vote but the amendments do. I would like to think that the founding fathers would have preferred that only land owners have to right to vote. Everyone one else is a free rider and should have no voting rights.

The Founders were quite clear that they opposed Universal Suffrage and deliberately did not put a right to vote in the Constitution.

The impending death of the American Republic is directly related to the expansion of the Franchise beginning in 1919 with the enactment of the 19th Amendment.

While I believe that the franchise should not be limited to land owners exclusively, recipients of federal and state aid should certainly LOSE their right to vote for the period in which they are on the dole just as felons do, and to date there is still NOTHING in the Constitution that would prevent a State from passing a law which does exactly that.
