Jobless Rate for Poor Black Teen Dropouts? Try 95 Percent
PBS ^ | july 6, 2013 | Paul Solmon

Posted on 07/06/2013 1:03:20 PM PDT by Innovative

Paul Solman: And how about kids that are not in school, what percentage of them ages 16 to 19 are not working now?

Andrew Sum: Over half. If you're a high school dropout you're talking about 30 percent working. Among high school grads who graduated from high school in the last three years -- we do a separate survey of them the fall after graduation -- 45 percent of them held a job, the lowest in the last 50 years we've been collecting this data. And to make it worse, of that 45 percent, only half of them were able to get a full-time job. Only one in five young high school grads, not in college, [is] working full-time.

....

Andrew Sum: Terribly. We used to be a world leader on putting young people to work. In the last 10 years we've moved from the fifth best to the 13th in a pack of 24 OECD [Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, meaning post-industrial] countries. The United States is no longer a leader.

Paul Solman: So, you mean, it's effectively an 80 percent underemployment rate?

Andrew Sum: Yes. And, if you happen to be a young black male, we're talking 90. Ninety percent are not working full-time.

Also lowest employment rate of high school graduates — worst in 50 years.

I dropped out to go to work. I ended up getting my GED before I would have gotten my diploma and I was hiring my graduating classmates.

Obviously the answer is amnesty for illegals.

A cynical person might see policies being proposed as an admission by the elites that the black underclass has outlived it's usefulness and they are preparing to replace them with a better class of poor person.

Maybe they want riots, from GZ trial or whatever, to begin the process of thinning the herd, along with abortion and violent crime.

And in 2016 they will once again vote for a rat who will spend 4 years ignoring them.

Just can’t fix stupid.

If you watched Hannity last night, there are a lot of conservative blacks who are opposed to the amnesty bill. They are really trying to change the minds of others who are auto set to vote for the (d) ticket.

And what happened 50 years ago? The end of WWII, when the troops came home... it's not unreasonable to assume that would flood the market with people looking for work.

I have thought this for a while too, that instead of the ruling class adhering to the wishes of the electorate, that the ruling class is voting in a new electorate that will support their policies better.

Somebody will be along shortly to tell you to quit wasting your time with such fantasies. (A lot like what happens in black communities when somebody tries to get out of the pot.)

I personally am all for finding new ways to encourage blacks to leave the plantation. In fact, a growing number of whites are now on that same plantation and we need to break the cycle anyway.

I did the same out of necessity. The spoiled kids these days don't know how tough things were for older generations.
