They seem ready to give up conservative voters, that’s apparent!

There are a great many fallacies in the argument for the Schumer/McCain/Graham proposal.

First of all, there is no unified Latino vote. The very concept overlooks the wide ethnic "diversity," involved.

Secondly, the "Latinos" particularly favored (numerically) by this outrageous proposal, are those most likely to vote for Leftist candidates, regardless of who supports this betrayal.

Thirdly, this bill will impact very very negatively, the prospects of young American Negroes, who have after all descended from folks in the Union for centuries. That is both terribly unfair, as well as a surrender of a chance to gain some ground against the Democrats, by standing firm against the bill.

Finally, even talking about tens of millions of new residents--even if not citizens--is an added strain on space & resources. Those business interests who see it only as a chance to temporarily boost the bottom line, are as short sighted as they are greedy in putting profit before nation.

In addition, the fact that those promoting this bill misuse the word Conservative in their adds, speaks very loudly indeed, about their integrity & ethics.

Congress needs to understand that those who embrace this bill will be beyond any future favorable consideration by the millions of us, who can never find it acceptable. America, itself, is the issue.

This pee’s me off.

Same here. But what else would you expect from an article written by the lefty MSM? Come to think about it, maybe it wasn't even written by ABC and Univision, but merely handed to them by congressional 'Rats aiming to fake the GOP into committing suicide as a party.

If the GOP decides to lead the charge in killing immigration reform in 2013, it's likely to feel the consequences in in 2014, and for a long time after

Problem is, it's not "immigration reform". The immigration process begins in the would be immigrant's home nation when they apply for a VISA at the US Embassy, attend an interview and then wait in their home nation for the results.

This bill deals with the people who crossed illegally without going through the immigration process. The only way this bill could be "immigration reform" is if the new way is to come to the USA first and then apply not for a tourist VISA, not for a student VISA but for what is called "pathway to citizenship". Yup, come now, apply after.

It's Amnesty pure and simple and oes nothing to reform the process of immigration.

Problem is, it's not "immigration reform".

You are correct that the Senate bill creates a new shamnesty, where aliens in the country illegally will unfortunately be granted an opportunity for citizenship. This, and its border security provisions, have been, and rightfully so, the most widely publicized and discussed features of it.

However, it is a huge bill (over 1,000 pages long, IIRC), and parts of it do indeed make some changes in the (legal) immigration process. So, technically speaking, it deals in part with real "immigration reform."

Seems as if "reform" is a much overused word in the political debate these days, often used to try to paint otherwise odious ideas in a positive light.
