After spending four days stranded on a boat in the Caribbean Sea, Amber Burkett is home. The 16-year-old Bridge City resident, whom Coast Guard rescuers found Wednesday 60 miles away from the Honduras island she and eight friends were trying to reach, cried and laughed, sometimes simultaneously, Saturday evening while exchanging hugs with more than a dozen friends and family members who had gathered to greet her.

As soon as she heals we’re going to get a pedicure......Good Lord. Just. Shiite.
The video of her is even better.
Comments on the original article are great.
I'm quite sure she did not get a full-thickness third-degree burn; those don't lead to peeling. Especially since her priority is a pedicure, not debridement and skin grafts. It does sound more dramatic, however.
Yes, I’m happy they’re all home safe and sound, btw.
Sorry but a pedicure, actually a mani-peddie would be in my top five. Hair treatment up there too.
It sounds like it was one of the things that may have pulled her through- it might have been something she and her mother or friends did together that meant a lot to her.

Libtards making comments I am sure...
actually a mani-peddie....Geez. I know damn well I shouldn’t.....But what is a mani- peddie? Sounds like somebody I should have arrested years ago. Go ahead, beat to me to death.
;-)
I *am* surprised to hear that such activities are found near Bridge City, Louisiana. Illegal cockfights, sure - but *nail salons*? I guess that neighborhood has changed.
manicure and a pedicure - same day.
I don’t see an awful lot of sunburn! I do see that she still had all her Twinkies aboard.
Idiot kids wanted to go southwest, actually went northwest.
Where’s the intelligence to read a compass??
I hope that the coast guard sends them a big bill for the search and rescue, just because of the idiot factor!
manicure and a pedicure - same day....Is that safe? I know I wasn’t allowed a heart transplant and a visit from my housekeeper on the same day.
but I’ve heard it involves East Asian women wielding Dremel Tools.....Oh yeah. 40 years ago in Subic Bay they used jackhammers. I guess time has refined us though, huh?
I would suggest at least one sea worthy companion. Foreign country foreign seas and 16 years old.
I would suggest the parents of America Teach their children
what is an avenue of life while you send a child of 16 to a foreign land!
I doubt the young lady will take up the sextant as a study project!
The American way continually shows our elders are out of touch!
Who goes out in the ocean without a radio? Never mind I know!!!
