Anti-'Obamacare' commercial to start running in Ohio this week
Cleveland Plain Dealer ^ | July 08, 2013 | Stephen Koff

WASHINGTON -- Within months, Ohioans will start seeing the rates, costs and/or benefits of the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. But Americans for Prosperity is not waiting.

The group, funded by the billionaire conservative Koch Brothers, disdains many things about President Barack Obama's White House, and Obamacare tops the list this week. The message in an ad that will run on broadcast and cable TV in Ohio and Virginia starting Tuesday: You should be scared.

“The American people have serious questions and concerns about the negative impact of Obamacare,”AFP president Tim Phillips said in a news release. “They are waking up to higher premiums and fewer choices, but are being told by the White House and outside groups that everything is just fine. We feel it is important to provide education on the true consequences of government intrusion into the private healthcare decisions of families, and provide a counter to disinformation that’s out there.”

The ad features a young mother named Julie, who says her son got medical care that "meant the world to me" when he started having seizures two years ago. "Now," she says, "I'm paying more attention."

She has questions: "If we can't pick our own doctor, how do I know my family's going to get the medical care we need? And what am I getting in exchange for higher premiums and a smaller paycheck? Can I really trust the folks in Washington with my family’s health care? I think we all deserve some answers.”

Good questions.

Can she pick her own doctor? It depends, as it does today, on her medical plan, or more likely, on the plan her employer picks.

Will she have higher premiums and a smaller paycheck?

Most Americans have had those for some time. Premiums have climbed three times as much as wages since 2002, says the Kaiser Family Foundation.

It is possible Julie will have higher premiums again. If she is in Ohio, she'll have to wait until the state puts out the proposed premiums for health care exchanges, later this summer, or until her employer sends out open-enrollment information this fall.

But since the White House last week delayed the employer penalty (for not providing insurance), employers this fall are likely to base insurance decisions the way they always have: on cost. If Julie has low wages, she might or might not be eligible for a taxpayer subsidy.

(Should such a mandate and subsidy system exist? Those are the real questions American for Prosperity has.)

Can Julie really trust the people in Washington? Not to deflect from a fair question, but Ohio has had its own share of spin on insurance and Obamacare.

In other news, Organizing for Action, the group formed by Obama's campaign aides to promote the White House agenda, today is launching a new national cable TV ad to tout the elimination of lifetime caps on medical coverage under Obamacare.

The ad features a mother discussing her young daughter's open-heart surgery. As an infant, the daughter, named Zoe, "was halfway to her cap before her first birthday," says the mother, Stacey Lihn. In other words, the family could have faced bankruptcy if Zoe required continued care, OFA suggests.

"Thanks to Obamacare, we can now afford the care that Zoe needs," the mother says.

The campaign to shut down these ads is probably getting big support from the WH and the DNC.

It was called "siccing the IRS on groups recently unshackled by the Citizens United decision". Would be kinda hard for them to go back to the well on THAT one right now.

Partial Government control is Socialism.

Total Government control is Communism.

B. Hussein Obama is a Communist for his Obama’care.’

BTW, if you doubt that Obama does not have total control of you, just try not paying for Federally mandated insurance, or the fine.

What I would like to see is a commercial of a young healthily 20-30 something complain about the enormous student debt AND the mandate to purchase insurance on the exchange; insurance that they will probably not need or use.
It’s one thing to be a low information voter, but it’s quite another thing to spend your money on something that you don’t really need or want. Do you think, even for a minute that young people will forgo concert tickets, all night drinking parties, iPhones and iTunes just to pay for some crummy insurance that they will never use? Will there be any “responsible” young adults that will happily consent to this crap when they see the welfare class getting Medicaid and all the goodies anyways?

The Schumer/Rubio act bombed bigtime----faster and harder than the joke of Jonny Depp as Tonto.

W/ Schumie as the fast-talking straight man and Rubio as the stooge the "Daring Duo" stupidly figured all would fall in line b/c an actual latino (Rubio-oh) was hot to trot for reform---so how bad could it be?

NRO's John Fund nailed it---conman's Ohaha's duplicity and his contempt for the rule of law figures in bigtime.

Ohaha played his organ grinder and got his dancing monkey (Pelosi) to gull the public into Obamacare. But when the going got tough---O did a huge switcheroo---bypassing Congress--by delaying the unworkable employer mandate.

More discerning citizens (conservatives) see reform as a self-serving attempt to legalize an invasion of primitive Third Worlders w/ savage survival instincts ---bigtime users w/ their hands out----that have no place in the US.

Twenty-somethings paying big premiums, system SNAFUs, many millions of people (healthcare employees should be fun to watch :) getting told to lose weight and quit smoking and drinking, older parents languishing in pain with little treatment, and then there’s the babies with problems.

Gonna see all the realities of OBAMACARE soon. Will buyers’ remorse flare?

This Anti-’Obamacare’ commercial isn’t nearly as bad as the one that’s been running in my head for the last five years!

Tucker Carlson: The black market is a ‘far more efficient system’ for health care

Published on Jul 3, 2013
July 2, 2013 - Fox News host Tucker Carlson asserted on Tuesday that a black market system where Americans pay cash for health care services would be “far more efficient” than insurance.

I don't like the "asking questions about ObamaCare" format rather than making statements.

She has questions: "If we can't pick our own doctor, how do I know my family's going to get the medical care we need? And what am I getting in exchange for higher premiums and a smaller paycheck? Can I really trust the folks in Washington with my family’s health care? I think we all deserve some answers.”

The above is designed to make people think. I'd rather have them informed.

I'd like it to say: "We will get terrible healthcare in exchange for higher premiums. We can't trust mixed up Washington, that can't even balance the budget and pay for ObamaCare yet, with the lives of our loved ones."

We don't want answers. We want this disaster changed!
