There should be a 24 hour notice before the verdict is read.
Of course, that would favor the people defending their lives and property from the perpetually offended, so the judge will not do that.

I maintain there should be a staggered release of the verdict. Say, for example, one letter per hour. That way, the cursive-impaired, will get-it, that is the verdict, over the course of many hours, and thus, not all-at-once.
