The theme of this thread is that if the House passes its own bill, it could go to conference and come out looking the the senate bill. (My comment: especially if it has anything other than border security/cracking down on illegal employment/visa tracking, i. e. poison pill so that senate Dems and RINOs would vote against it.) Here is Sensebrenner's statement in your link:
The House Judiciary Committee has recognized the need for immigration reform and has begun its measured approach tackling immigration one issue at a time. It wont be flashy no big headlines, grandstanding or party leaders marching in the streets of Washington with an oversized gavel. But it will fix the problem in a responsible way.
I don't know if Sensebrenner has talked to Gowdy and Goodlatte, but those two crucial committe chairs have both stated they are OK with some kind of legalization
My congressman has a very anti-Obama record, but he is contributing to some kind of House "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" bill (yes, that is also the name of what they are doing in the Judiciary Committee).
Yes, I called today telling them NO.
Point made. I will seek clarification from my esteemed Congressman.
