Decision Time on Immigration

Today is a pivotal day in the immigration debate: House Republicans are meeting to hash out their path.

Pressure is coming from all sides. The Senate passed the Gang of Eight’s “comprehensive” plan, and three groups on the right are urging the House to act. President Obama is meeting today with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has said the House will not take up the same bill the Senate passed—but there is still a danger in trying to work with the Senate.

If the House simply tries to pass a bill so that it can come together with the Senate in conference—informal or formal—Congress will likely tinker around the edges of the Gang of Eight’s plan and give us the immigration version of Obamacare.

As Heritage experts have explained, Congress can address every major aspect of immigration reform and border security without a comprehensive bill.

The plan on the table has severe flaws—and besides, we can’t even trust that laws will be implemented as they’re supposed to be.

Just look at Obamacare. The Obama Administration has delayed or changed more than a dozen aspects of that law. So promises from Senators and Representatives about how a law will work can be undone or simply never fulfilled. (That’s what happened the last time Congress granted amnesty to illegal immigrants—the promised border security provisions never materialized.)

It doesn’t help aspiring Americans who are waiting in line to come here legally.

As House Republicans consider their course, it would be wise to look at commonsense things the country can do without saddling taxpayers with a do-nothing, trillion-dollar monstrosity.

How regretable and discouraging that there are entirely too many idiots and moderates in Congress who continually fail to do what is right. This argument that there are entirely too damned many to deport is a nonsequiter. There were less during Eisenhower's tenure, but he and his government did the right thing. They deported all the illegals!

Progressive idiots and their RINO pals ask how can this be accomplished. The answer is simple: one at a time!

It's too bad that Michelle Bachman is leaving the House, because she knew what this trojan horse was all about. Any House bill no matter what promises are made guaranteeing border security in the world will just be lie. There will be no more border security even if a million new patrol agents are added to the bloated central socialist government.

Any legislation regurgitates out of our disgusting Congress will be a trojan horse. These two houses will get together with the house cobbling together a border security bill, then when they get together with the senate weasels the senate version will be folded in to this sickening mess and with the help of the traitors the infernal thing will pass.

We musn't forget the senate turncoat phony Rubio who shines Schumer's shoes as the new boy in the senate. He must be denied a second term and replaced with one of the few house Conservatives. Lt. Col. West must re-enter the political fray.

Boehner: don't allow any so-called immigration reform bill

This argument that there are entirely too damned many to deport is a nonsequiter. There were less during Eisenhower's tenure, but he and his government did the right thing. They deported all the illegals!

The proponents of amnesty are wont to create the false choice between a blanket amnesty and mass deportation of 12 to 20 million illegal aliens. In reality, we have other choices and alternatives that don’t reward people who have broken our laws with the right to stay and work here and an eventual path to citizenship. The 12 to 20 million illegal aliens did not enter this country overnight and they will not leave overnight. Attrition through enforcement works. We have empirical data from Georgia, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Arizona proving that it does.

Cantor should do a quiet canvas of all Republicans and see what the vote is for the Senate bill. If they are sure of defeating it, bring it up fast, vote it down and then pass their own immigration enforcement bill and shove it down the Senate’s throat. They’d vote it down of course but the issue of immigration reform ends for now - both sides can claim they addressed the issue.
