When a woman shoots an unarmed boyfriend or husband, and her attorney is making a self-defense argument, pretty much every thing the decedent wrote or said is admitted as potentially exculpatory evidence.

When a woman shoots an unarmed boyfriend or husband, and her attorney is making a self-defense argument, pretty much every thing the decedent wrote or said is admitted as potentially exculpatory evidence. There's a difference between that kind of case (where there was a long history between the combatants) and this one (where there was not). That's not to say that these texts shouldn't come in (they should), but it's a different kind of case.
