Doesn’t this violate Zimmermans 5th Amendment rights? She carefully advised him of that right first.
I think she was trying to trap him into testifying since the case is going badly for the prosecution.

NO, the Judge can inquire to make sure it is the Defendants decision. HOWEVER not sure about this bit before the Defense is even over
