George Zimmerman's prosecutors want to add lesser charges for the death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, including manslaughter and third-degree murder, possibly because they're worried he'll be acquitted. Originally, Zimmerman just faced second-degree murder charges for shooting and killing 17-year-old Martin. He claims self-defense, saying that Martin punched him in the face and smashed his head into the sidewalk.
In the state of Florida, third-degree murder doesn't require proving that Zimmerman acted with some sort of "ill will" or hatred. The new charge, however, does need a felony-basis. In a surprising move, the prosecution argued Zimmerman committed child abuse as the felony required for third-degree murder.
Richard Mantei, one prosecutor in the case, explained, "When one commits ... child abuse, and the child dies the child being defined as a person under the age of 18 that can constitute felony murder in the third degree." Judge Debra Nelson noted that child abuse must be intentional. "Shooting is an intentional act. The question is whether is was justifiable, not intentional," Mantei responded.

That is exactly right!
The fact is that not only are we at the point that we have so many laws on the books that hey can convict you of anything. They also have unlimited money and time to make their case. They will bankrupt you. Ruin your reputation and walk away unscathed from the experience.
We must have anew set of Amendments including the elimination of Prosecutors being immune from civil action for blatant abuse of their authority.
At first I thought Trayvon’s parents were being charged with abuse. THEY are the ones who abused their son.
They didn’t even care if he was missing until the next day.
Zimmerman is a proxy for any “whitey” that dares defend himself from black thuggery.
O & H identify themselves with Thugvon.

Desperately Desperate!
The DA should be embarrassed.
I think you are absolutely right. This is overnight orders from Washington. Convict him of something or else.
We have all seen how the courts in Florida have no problem with changing the law in the middle of an election. Why should a murder case be any different?
Care to guess what our court system will look like after they nullify the 2nd amendment and confiscate firearms?
I have never seen anything like this.
Actually we have the 2nd.
I rather strongly suspect that if Martin were alive to be tried for any crime of violence, the state would charge him as an “adult”.
17 year olds have been tried as adults.
His mother couldn’t supervise her ‘child’, so he was shipped off to the father. His father goes to dinner w/his girlfriend and leaves this ‘child’ wandering the streets and his school suspended him because he was beyond supervision. All guilty of child abuse, IMO!
Hmm, interesting. Please elucidate.
How about Jaywalking with a 40 year sentence?
Regime damage control. They CAN’T have riots now that Limbaugh has outed the Administration for helping to fund and organize them.
On the other hand, only way to avoid them at this stage is to see that he goes to jail.
We've already seen how the so-called "justice" department paid our tax dollars to organize black thugs to protest against Zimmerman. I'm sure you're right on this.
Even though the jury is sequestered, the way the Traitorobamanites are behaving, it would not be surprising if the jury members already have been told their families’ lives will be in danger if they don’t convict Zimmerman.
They HAVE been doing it to us for decades.
I wonder what the Hispanics think of all this? Their friends, the Democrats, seem to have made a choice, and it’s not them.
Doesn’t make sense. If Martin can be tried as adult at his age how can it be child abuse??
