I love Wegmans. I am there sometimes three times a day.
The employees are amazing. I’ve been shopping there for my entire adult life and I have honestly NEVER had a bad experiance.
Yes, they are a few dollars more then their competitors. But they have EXTREMELY high standards of food for the products that bear the Wegmans name.
The one or two times I’ve had to return something, they have done so cheerfully and without a receipt.
These people UNDERSTAND customer service and quality and I recommend that anyone in upstate New York who is considering starting their own service based business spend a few times shopping at Wegmans to see firsthand how extremely good service will have customers lining up even if it’s a few bucks more.
Oh, one other strange thing.... I’ve also NEVER seen angry upset customers in Wegmans. At other grocers I always seem to see people just shy of getting into shouting matches with managers, etc. Nothing like that at Weggies ever. The shoppers are all nice to one another and theres lots of smiling and friendly chatter.
I used to hate going to the store - now I’m there 2-3 times a day. :)
I live in Texas, so I haven't had an opportunity to shop at Wegman's.
However, speaking as one who spent most of my career in marketing grocery products -- working with companies like Procter & Gamble and Borden -- I can assure you that Wegman's reputation in the grocery business is well-known and highly respected nationally.
They are recognized as a very special grocery chain -- not only by their customers, but by their suppliers.
Those unfamiliar with Wegmans need to know: this is a grocery chain so impressive it is, I kid you not, at the top of the “you gotta see this” list for visitors.
