OTTAWA, July 11, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The recent increase in Canada's birthrate has receded again, according to the latest report from Statistics Canada.
In its Fertility Overview of the years 2009 to 2011 released yesterday, StatsCan reported that in 2009 the total fertility rate dropped to 1.67, then to 1.63 in 2010, and to 1.61 in 2011, the most recent year for which numbers are available.
In 2011, there were 377,636 births in Canada, up slightly from the previous year when 377,213 were born. Both are lower than 2009, when there were 380,863 births.
With a total fertility rate of 1.61, Canada is falling further and further away from the 2.1 children per woman required to replace the population in the absence of migration.

Oh, Canada...
Equal to Russia, according to stats on the current thread regarding the new law about fines for public displays of homosexuality.
That’s OK, muzzie births will more than make up for the lack of native Canuck births.
The numbers include births to Moslems, so you can imagine how few children the rest of Canadians have.
Very difficult to come back from a 1.61....The end is near.
Good. I’ll wait out the next 100 years. This time their numbers will be too small to repel us. The wily Canucks will not be able to resist an American invasion like they did in 1812. And that was only because the deceitful Canadians fed us poutine and put gravy on our French fries. We became to sick to continue the invasion and had to skulk away with our tails between our legs. This time: No!!! poutine and absolutely NO!!! gravy on the French fries. Well...maybe just a little gravy.
Governments everywhere have put in place programs that lead people to think they can depend on government instead of themselves and their families. The cost of these programs make it harder and harder for people to afford to have children. That, along with more women in the work force and the decline of marriage are all recipes for a declining population.
Reducing the burden of government would help, but I’m not sure anything can reverse the population decline now.
Bring back jobs to Canada and America.
Now.
Stop shipping American jobs to China. Bring them back home.
Many will rationalize a falling population as a good thing.
At the rate we're going (morally speaking) extinction would be a good idea.
Historically speaking, this is nothing new. Read your Bible, man the perimeter, and wait for the cycle to turn.
I think it was the perogies that did us in.
That is: we became TOO sick...not to sick.
