Sir Elton John says Pope Francis is ‘a miracle of humility’

The Italian edition of Vanity Fair has named Pope Francis as its Man of the Year with the backing of singer Sir Elton John.

The magazine features Pope Francis on the cover of its new issue and says that Francis has done enough in his first 100 days as Pope to be put at the top of the list of world leaders who make history.

In an accompanying tribute, Sir Elton writes: “Francis is a miracle of humility in an era of vanity.”

He says he hopes that Pope Francis’s message would extend to communities who desperately need his love, including gay people and the children, women and men who live with HIV and Aids and are often alone and hidden by silence.

“[Pope Francis’s] beacon of hope will bring more light than any advancement of science, because no drug has the power of love,” Sir Elton said.

AMEN!!!

Yes God can change Elton’s heart. Something is happening to him for making those statements. I know he had been ill I wonder if he had an experience which maybe...maybe questioned his life.

I like it! God wants to lose NO ONE...even perverts like Elton John.

He (God) is a Sweet Heart!

How lucky we are to be able to serve Him forever! Whadda Guy...whadda God!

Serving Him is pure pleasure!

We have one thing that even God does not have. We know how wonderful He is from a sinner's perspective.

Of that, he has no idea. It is great to have an advantage over even Him in admiring His wondrous work in our salvation.

It is a small donation of love that even He must recognize as unique.

He is my Sweet Heart...my total devotion.

And I know as a long-time lurker that He is the Same for you and your husband.

May He be with us.

I had read that, having adopted a child, he now is very saddened to realize that the child will never know a mother’s love. (Of course, he is not dumping his partner and looking for a wife.)

I think Elton John has a good heart - and the Pope knows that this is what Our Lord calls to and what he looked for in offering his love to every sinner: sincerity and a desire to know God and to do better.

I don’t expect Elton John to suddenly announce that he has changed, if only because the society in which he moves would make this virtually impossible for him. But I am confident that God will sort it out, and many who are first (or thought they were!) will be last.
