SANFORD, Fla. - Trayvon Martin spent four long minutes preparing to attack George Zimmerman, time when he lay in wait before throwing the first punch in a confrontation that ended in his death, Zimmerman's defence lawyer said in closing arguments on Friday.
Lead defence lawyer Mark O'Mara attempted to shift the blame to Martin, the unarmed, black 17-year-old whom Zimmerman shot dead last year. O'Mara told the jury there was "factual and undeniable evidence" that Zimmerman should be found not guilty. ... To convict Zimmerman of second-degree murder, a charge that could lead to a sentence of life in prison, the jury must find he acted with ill will, spite or hatred.
The hateful person that rainy night was Martin, not Zimmerman, O'Mara told the jury.
"Somebody decided they were angry. Ticked off. Ill will, spite or hatred," O'Mara said. "It wasn't some cop wannabe.
"The person who decided this was going to continue, was going to become a violent event, was the guy who didn't go home when he had a chance to. It was the guy who decided to lie in wait," O'Mara said.

It was obvious from the 4 minute delay, during which Martin was only 300 feet from home.
Plus the ass whooping taken by Zimmerman.
The story at your link is not the same as what you posted here. Did the site scrub that info? Are they already removing the best arguments for his innocence from the MSM coverage to increase the likelihood of rioting should he be found not guilty?

I’ve been informed that the actual parameters were 5’11”, 158 lbs. But that seems a bit skinny.

The press never fails to mention that Treyvon was unarmed. But what they fail to point out is that Martin thought that Zimmerman was unarmed too. That is why he jumped him!
Martin thought he had the advantage. But he didn't...

The defense was restricted to the evidence, ergo this line of defense for their case.
But... it doesn’t make sense. Most young punks, if they got ‘home’ (which Trayvon did) would not go back out IN THE RAIN , risking ARREST, BY THEMSELVES, to go beat up on a white dude.
There had to be something ‘incriminating’ or ‘desperately needed’ that led Trayvon to go back to the same area where Detective Serino stated that a ‘burglary tool’ of some kind was found behind the bushes (near where George said he thought Trayvon had come out of ).
Trayvon was looking for it, and heard George. He knew he was screwed. Now he had no choice, he was going to have to make sure this guy couldn’t call the cops, or ID him.
If Trayvon got in trouble with the cops of the Neighborhood Watch , his Daddy might kick him ‘out’ of Brandy’s townhouse. His Daddy had already warned him. Even Rachel warned him. She told him to stay there, assumed he had. I don’t think she lied about it. That means there must have been some OVERWHELMING reason to leave the safety of that back yard.
Trayvon might have been into some street fighting, but he wasn’t a KNOCKOUT KING like everyone thinks. He was more into B+E.
WHY then would he leave? I don’t think it was to beat up George. It had to be something important enough that it was worth the ‘risk’ to go back and get it.
nothing says ‘I support civil rights’ better than stealing a big flat screen TV and beer.
He was looking for whatever he left in the bushes that George said Trayvon might have come out of (it was dark). Something so important that Trayvon left the safety of his Daddy's back yard, and against Rachel's plea to stay there, to go back and get.
Running into George again was not in his plan, so he had to try and make sure George couldn't call the cops or ID him.
So, the sucker punch and beating into unconsciousness.
Good plan, except George had a gun.
Ah, 5’11” 158 lbs. with a tattoo of his mother’s name on his wrist and a pair of praying hands with his deceased grandmother’s and great-grandmother’s names. No grillwork I’m aware of and trace marijuana - may have been as many as 30 days old.
I wonder how many B&E’s or home invasions have happened in that gated community since Martin was killed.
