No doubt the world would be a better place if there was no political Islam. However the political reality is that there are huge numbers of people in Muslim countries who adhere to this philosophy.They vastly outnumber Western oriented secularists. We cannot wish them away. In fact even if there were a huge violent civil war within Muslim nations and the secularists “won , these people would still exist and the problem would reoccur. The only hope for peace and progress in these countries is if ( and it is almost impossible to visualize) a reasonable consensus is achieved between the two groups. Actually very doubtful that will ever occur. Sadly this coup will not bring peace and prosperity to Egypt.
The complete rejection of islam by all people would be a good first step to peace and prosperity in Egypt,...the world.
