Abortion rights advocates have long maintained that abortion clinics are safe and that their procedures are no more invasive or dangerous than dental surgery or colonoscopies. Virginia recently passed regulations requiring abortion clinics to have wider hallways and doorways, expanded parking and entrance awnings. Supporters said the changes ensure the safety of women undergoing abortions. Opponents said the measure was a veiled attempt to shutter them.
“NOVA Women’s Healthcare provided medical services to thousands of women,” Yarmosky said. “It was the largest abortion provider, but thousands of women also relied on them for birth control and other health care, and they went to NOVA because they could not afford care otherwise. Now they are left without their trusted health-care provider, in part due to politicians. It’s definitely a loss.”

So, if they stopped providing abortions, but maintained the other facets of their health care, would they have been subject to the more stringent regulations?
If, truly, their desired goal was to "provide health care for thousands of women", then wouldn't it be worthwhile to continue that part of the practice, while providing them with options other than abortion? Or to take the lib side of the argument, referring the women to other abortion clinics?
IMHO, this proves what the clinic was all about - abortions. The rest is whitewash to give them some plausible cover.
Abortion is an industry and operates one, under business practices. The “other services” were probably loss leaders to get women in the door and raise awareness of the higher margin abortion services they provided.

But they can’t afford to stay in business without the abortion income ... that is what they are really admitting here. Women’s ‘healthcare’ is not profitable without abortion.

Good observation - I missed, although I was wondering what percentage of their revenue came from non-abortion “health care.” I also thought that they couldn’t be providing very effective birth control products if they were the largest abortionist in the area.
The article tries to blame the abortion mill’s plight on evil protesters who stood outside the building harassing clients, but buried inside the piece is a snippet about the DAILY presence of abortion clients lying in the hallways of this office building and vomiting all over the place—a situation that led the building’s owner to want them out of there ASAP.

Translation: The Legislature determined that abortion clinics were medical clinics and demanded they obey the rules for medical clinics.

The ironies are multi-layered.
The NC legislature is going through the same mechanations, with the usual suspects thumping their chests over the fallout.
I don't know that much about it, but ....Sez me, if liberals - particularly liberal feminists - don't like a piece of legislation, it's probably OK in my book. Hopefully our governor will realize that the people screaming loudly about it will never vote for him anyway, and will have the spine to sign it.
I'll show my ignorance, here. Who pays? Is abortion cover-able by insurance? Some Gov't program? Or is it considered 'elective', and is a cash-only business?
Honestly, I don't know. I don't have experience in such things, which is a good thing.
