A Troy area man is facing an attempted murder charge after a stabbing that occurred during the Sixth Annual Peace Fest music festival at Zane-Shawnee Caverns early Saturday morning.
Joseph D. Burton, 36, is currently lodged in the Logan County Jail on the felony charge.
About 2:35 a.m. Saturday, deputies of the Logan County Sheriffs Office and Tri-Valley EMS responded to the caverns, 7092 State Route 540, Bellefontaine, in reference to a stabbing.
Jason N. Dalton, 37, of New Carlisle, reportedly had sustained several stab wounds. He was treated at the scene, and then was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Security personnel at the caverns identified Mr. Burton as the suspect.
Witnesses said they saw the two men engage in an argument, which eventually turned physical. A knife was recovered at the scene by security and was turned into deputies.
Deputies are working with officials from the Logan County Prosecutors Office on the case. Interviews also are planned with Mr. Dalton once he is well enough.
Sheriff Andrew J. Smith said in recent years, deputies have dealt with other complaints during music festivals at Zane-Shawnee Caverns.
In July 2011, several drug trafficking arrests were made during one such event at the caverns, where three men were charged with possession of drugs and drug trafficking in methamphetamine.
Several weeks prior to that date at a different event, deputies arrested a Cincinnati man for possession of a counterfeit controlled substance and assault.
That defendant reported to deputies that he had been assaulted by a male and a female pair at the festival, both of whom accused him of selling them ecstasy that wasnt good.
During the same event that June, several Piqua area teens also were charged with drug abuse and underage consumption.
OK, Joseph, I think we may have gotten a bit ahead of ourselves. Can you define what “peace” means to you?
In the scheme of things (particularly the Zimmerman Trial) this is par for the course with liberals.
Only in Liberal Land could the same people who are screaming about too many guns and gun violence speak in the same breath about killing someone because the outcome was percieved on their part as “unfair”.
Ohio’s own mini Woodstock while the real music was to be found at Country Concert in the Hills in Ft. Loramie. LOL
