A Minneapolis rally to support Trayvon Martin in the not guilty verdict of George Zimmerman is slated for Monday night with help from a group that supports Uptown shooting victim Terrance Franklin.
MN Neighborhoods Organizing for Change calls it the #HoodiesUp for Trayvon Rally which is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis. The Justice 4 Terrance Franklin Committee is also helping organize the event, among others.

Terrance Franklin, 22, was fatally shot by Minneapolis police in Uptown on May 10 after allegedly shooting two cops.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers struggled with Franklin in the basement of a home he had broken into at 27th and Bryant Avenue South after he fled police in a car and then on foot.

"Officer Luke Peterson was identified by sources with knowledge of the investigation as the police officer who fired the fatal shot. The sources told the Star Tribune that officers were struggling with Franklin, 22, in a cramped basement room when he reached for an officer’s MP5 machine pistol and squeezed the trigger as the officer held the gun, firing at least two shots that struck two officers in their legs.
Peterson stepped between the officer who had the MP5 and Franklin, who was trying to get another shot off, the sources said. Peterson then fired back, killing Franklin, according to the sources. The police officers survived."

Can I ask a stupid question? Why is it okay for young black men to roam around in public with a “gang” demeanor, the swagger, wearing hoodies, pants on the ground, etc., and instead of the black community being embarrassed or ashamed, instead, we are racist if we say anything? And we’re racist if we are afraid of these black gang appearing people. Why is this??
I don’t think hoodies bother anyone when they are worn in cold weather and the wearer keeps face up.
What is unnerving is when they are worn up in warm weather and the wearer take a head down stance to shield their face from view.
They are warn to protect the face from security cameras.
