GALVESTON, Texas -- Two young would-be-burglars got more than they bargained for early Friday morning, and it was all captured on the victims home surveillance system.
Galveston police said the criminals, who could be as young as 16-years-old, began kicking in a mans door while he was home.
It happened just after midnight in the 2900 block of Avenue K.
According to police, the criminals didnt seem to care that the man was home. Thats not the only thing that stands out about them.
Police believe one of the suspects could be deaf because the pair appears to be using sign language in surveillance video.
Disabilities dont hamper somebody from committing a crime, said Chief Henry Porretto with Galveston Police. I think that somebody who breaks into somebodys house while someone is home is one of the most disturbing things that can happen to someone.
Police said the homeowner who was targeted was alerted by a noise at his back door. He then reportedly watched the suspects from inside on his surveillance system.
One of the suspects eventually kicked in the mans back door, and police said he threatened to kill the homeowner.
The homeowner had a gun of his own and opened fire. The single shot just missed one of the intruders.
Im thinking theyre teenage boys sneaking from some girls house. Thats how young they looked, said next door neighbor Jocelyn Newton.
Newton believes she saw the two teens pass by her porch minutes before they began terrorizing the neighbor next door.
It was like boom, Newton said.
A short time later, Newton said she heard a banging on her door. She thought the intruders were coming for her.
They opened the door and shined the light on me. When I looked up, they screamed GPD and grabbed my arm, pulling me out of my bed, Newton said.
Newton claims police stormed through her house searching for the suspects.
The suspects had already escaped the neighborhood, but police dont think theyll be able to run for long.
Police call the homeowners surveillance video a key to solving this case. Investigators are following up on a number of leads and believe the suspects likely live in the Galveston area.
The homeowner who shot at those suspects also had his home broken into in June.
Its unclear if these could be the same criminals, and police said theyre not sure why these teens picked this particular house.
Perhaps it is a new idea...
Clearly the teenagers were Obama’s sons.
are these children Skittle Boys?
Sort of, he missed.
Does 0bama want us to honor these kids?

Really? Seems like GPD is looking for gunfight here.

By kicking in the door?
Another reason to have a shotgun in hand loaded with 00 Buckshot. They’d both be splattered on the opposite wall. No chalk needed, bring a mop and shop vacuum.
This is why I've recently retrofitted or upgraded entirely my doors. No one is gonna kick in my doors easily. By the time they do, they will be looking down the barrel of my Benelli M4. Also put on security films on my windows.
Shotguns don’t miss.
“Shotguns dont miss.”
True. Shotguns do not miss. People who shoot shotguns miss. They do it often.
I know, because I have missed with shotguns thousands of times.
It is easy enough to miss with a shotgun. Try shooting one at paper targets at even 20 feet away, and you will see what I mean.
Skill is acquired by practice.
Your practice is a good example for everyone to follow.
I see something far more ominous in that. I don’t think they were intending to just rob, but to kill.
The one who tried to kick in the door apparently did not succeed, but then he picks up the gun and makes what looks like a shooting stance. That doesn’t impress me as wanting to hold someone at gunpoint, but to shoot them.
And the icing on this was that he jerked a little bit, so might have been grazed on the arm.
reminds me to reposition my back yard camera
The neighbor lady thought the criminals were then breaking down her own door. What if she had got her own gun to face them with. She would be DEAD and GPD guys would dutifully say, “I felt threatened” and go back to the station to be awarded their richly deserved extra paid vacations.
Much of Galveston, away from the tourist areas, is a hell hole.
