ATLANTA (Reuters) - A Georgia killer who was sentenced to die on Monday for the beating death of a fellow inmate won a temporary reprieve just three hours before his scheduled execution by a judge who cited concerns over the state's new law governing lethal injections.

Warren Lee Hill, 53, had been sentenced to die by lethal injection at 7 p.m. (2300 GMT).

But Fulton County Superior Court Judge Gail Tusan stayed the execution until at least Thursday so she could hear more arguments from Hill's lawyers who say the new law is unconstitutional because it shrouds in secrecy a drug used to execute Georgia citizens.

Well, this is right.
What if he became addicted to the drug?
What if he got high before he died?
What if this was a “gateway” drug?

See what i Mean?

The constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, it does not guarantee a painless execution.

I thought that SCOTUS just recently ruled on the constitutionality of a particular state’s execution protocol (can’t recall which state). They ruled that that protocol was OK legally. Why don’t all the other states that have the DP just adopt that protocol...problem solved.

He shot his 18-year-old girlfriend to death in 1986 and he beat his cellmate to death in 1990. A slow morphine drip would be too good for him.

Replace all the “cocktails” and just use a hot shot of heroin.

Put him in cell with another Death Row Inmate.. Which ever one comes out wins a prize. Prize will be he gets to room with another Death Row Inmate.
Better yet make it like March Madness. Seed all DRIs and keep pairing them down get one winner. Winner gets a slow drip.
Yes, a Gateway Drug, to Hell.

I'm always floored by the argument that he's too "retarded, sir" to be executed. I mean look at his test scores.

Methinks that even a "stupid" person knows enough to intentionally flunk a test. His lawyer probably even told him to do that.

Drano & Clorox, slightly-chilled, will have a ‘wondrous’ effect on the CNS and respiratory systems.

“What if this was a “gateway” drug?

In this case maybe a “Pearly Gateway” drug.

I still think the first part of the IV should
be LSD, then the executioners all put on lifelike
maskes of the victim and start laughing and poking
the inmate with pitchforks....then the drug of choice.
