Study: Blacks followed Zimmerman trial more closely than whites

Black Americans paid much closer attention to George Zimmerman's trial than white Americans did, according to a new survey from the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press.

It wasn't difficult to follow the murder case against Zimmerman, who shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., in February 2012: News coverage of the trial was almost ubiquitous in its closing days.

But not everbody took advantage. Fifty-six percent of the blacks surveyed said they followed the trial "very closely," compared to 20% of whites. The telephone survey of 1,002 adults was taken July 11 to July 14. The six-woman jury returned a not-guilty verdict for Zimmerman on July 13.....

You can lead these blacks (and other viewers) to the truth, but you cannot expect other than herd thinking. Martin is black = Martin is the innocent victim. Zimmerman is a “white Hispanic” = evil. murdering white man of St. Trayvon. Blacks don't care that Zimmerman was justified in using deadly force on Trayvon. Zimmerman is not black (enough) and therefore he's guilty of murdering poor 17-year old St. Trayvon. Are blacks racists? Yes!

Yes, but what news outlets did those black people use to follow the trial? If they used MSNBC, they have no idea what was really going on.

As others of you have pointed out, this is about stirred up emotions. Most of the black callers to Hannity that I heard were simply not rational about this topic at all. They WANTED to believe that George Zimmerman racially profiled Treyvon Martin. They WANTED to believe the worst. They have been programmed to do so.

As I have reflected on this matter over the weekend, I find myself making this observation: Even if George Zimmerman was a dyed-in-the-wool Klansman, he still had the right to walk the streets without being attacked.
