Peaceful protest of Trayvon Martin verdict in Los Angeles flares into violence

A peaceful protest of the Trayvon Martin verdict in Los Angeles unraveled into violence late Monday after a large group broke off and began smashing store windows, vandalizing cars and attacking bystanders, authorities said. More than 300 LAPD cops flooded the Crenshaw district in southwest L.A. after some 150 people splintered off from a prayer vigil in Leimert Park and blazed a trail of anarchy along nearby Crenshaw Boulevard, according to local reports.

Protesters jump on a pickup truck in Los Angeles on Monday.

Helicopter footage showed angry rioters jumping on cars, breaking storefront windows, setting fires in curbside trash cans and attacking bystanders, including two people sitting on a bus bench at Slauson Avenue. Several of the rioters stormed a Wal-Mart and a mall at the Crenshaw Baldwin Hills shopping plaza, where witnesses said the goons stole merchandise, knocked down store displays and smashed furniture, local NBC4 reported.

There was vandalism and fire setting right off the bat, but Obama and his media want the ‘protests’ to continue..so we will not get the truth.

Yep...lots of black female thuggets getting in on the action too. I actually heard a police dispatcher last night laughing while reporting on scanner that a white woman had been hit on back of head by a black woman wielding a shoe. She was bleeding in back of head and the dispatcher thought it funny I guess. Very unprofessional to say the least. The police in Oakland were a joke last night.

Seriesly, wasn't givin' ya a hard time, Pen .. even the most security-conscious geeks will prolly never be rid of all the underhanded crap on the web.

Having it running in the background with notifications turned off, the only reason I peeked at my Ghostery app was when the comments at the link weren't showing up.

Most of the 16 are likely innocuous, but the fact of their being there at all just pisses me off on principle .. hence the link for other short-fused curmudgeons.

Just decided the comments weren't worth clicking trackers on/off to get to 'em, and moved on to something else .. LOL

Anyway, cheers

"Peaceful protest," by people who are thousands of miles away from the participants in a trial in Florida, protesting the outcome of that trial? Wonder if any of the "peaceful protesters" actually had any direct knowledge of the Zimmerman case?

While people have a right to "peacefully assemble," the purpose here was obviously unholy from the start. A mob in southern California have no business protesting the workings of local Courts in Florida. The idea of some sort of interstate mob rule is out of Nazi Germany, not the Founding Fathers' America.

It may well step up a level as well.
The police may take on a “more active” role in protecting the “protesters” from those defending their property from “protest”.

The worst scenario was Watts riots. There was a chain of discount stores called White Front. Two in south central LA.

You can imagine the rest.

Within a year or so they went out of business bought out by Zody’s.

There never has been, there is not now and there never will be a “Peaceful Protest.”

I beg to differ. The Tea Party had hundreds of them. They even cleaned up after themselves.

All these feral animals are doing is looting and pillaging like the uncivilized barbarians they are. They are unfit for self-rule.

After the Rodney King cops trial Maxine Waters said about the riots, “They’re not rioting they’re revolting.” I’ll say.
