You mean your family started here three or four generations ago and did all that? You must have had taken advantage of the Irish quotas in the schools and gotten lots of equal opportunity scholarships and stuff like that. Those disadvantaged white boy programs are the only way you and your family could have made it to enjoy the advantages you have now.

LOL, nope. All hard work, all the way. My dad was orphaned, also. And I'm a woman. Just hard work. Waited tables and ironed the rich kids' clothing in college. Started own business in my 20s after I was sexually harassed in corporate settings (MadMen era). Sent myself to Ivy grad school in my middle age while taking care of dying parents, husband with serious illness, running business, and raising kid. Just worked hard. First entrepreneur in several generations, also. I have no patience for people who won't work for what they want.

OK; I'm burned out now. But I'm also debt-free.

Burned out, I can see why and relate to that. I want to do more but am finding it harder every day. I’m also finding it harder to adapt to the attitudes and ways of doing business. I find I’m better off just doing the technical and hard work of organizing and planning nobody else wants to do.
