Liz Cheney to Seek Wyo. Senate Seat Held by Repub.
NBC News ^ | July 16, 2013 | MEAD GRUVER and BEN NEARY

Former Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter Liz Cheney will run against Wyoming's senior U.S. senator in next year's Republican primary, her campaign said Tuesday.

Liz Cheney, 46, is the elder of Dick Cheney's two daughters. Her announcement is a political challenge unlike anything Wyoming has seen for years, maybe decades.

Republicans in the state rarely challenge incumbents of their own party in national office. All three members of the state's congressional delegation and all statewide elected officials are Republican.

Liz Cheney is married and has five children. She hasn't been a longtime Wyoming resident but she and her husband bought a home in the posh northwest Wyoming community of Jackson Hole last year.

"I am running because I know, as a mother and a patriot, we can no longer afford simply to go along to get along. We can't continue business as usual in Washington," Cheney said in a statement.

Meanwhile, apparently aware that Cheney's announcement was imminent, Sen. Mike Enzi announced his bid for a fourth term. He made the announcement more than six months earlier in the political cycle than he has in the past.

Enzi said he would continue to "do the job I was already elected to do."

said it on another thread.

Another big family ruling class name who will take the side of McCain and Graham who will want us in all wars and then be liberal on the homosexual agenda and cross dressing.

Before someone states I ma confusing her , no I ma not I know who she is and I;m sick of family names with letters at the end of them who then think they should get elected

I happen to like Liz and it would be great if Sarah runs and wins the Senate seat in Alaska. I think Liz and Sarah along with Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and possibly Rand Paul can be strong conservatives in the Senate.

I’ve said in the past that George W. Bush is the Republican Jimmy Carter. Now in Liz Cheney, we have the Republican Hillary Clinton. Turnabout may be fair play, but it often makes for lousy policy and politics.

Emzi is OK, but he’s not all that inspiring and he’s getting long in the tooth. I don’t like his support for an internet sales tax.

I wish for Enzi to retire and Cynthia Loomis to replace him.

He's an reliable conservative incumbent who happens to hold a Senate seat that Liz Cheney and her fans feel she is entitled to, therefore he is a "RINO"

Cheney , stand with McCain and Graham while voting for the homosexual and cross dressing agenda, no thanks

these family names have got ot be stopped and I can’t believe any conservative would even think of voting for her when Enzi is not all that bad. not great but better than Cheney

We don’t know that for a fact. So, we should embrace the incumbent then?

It is unlikely that she could ever run to the right of Enzi. She could try the younger and female angle.

Our trust should be in the Lord, but we are to occupy until He comes again. Our hope and future doesn’t lie with politicians.

What's wrong with Enzi?

I heard he teamed up with Schumer on the Internet tax.

Last Saturday, he did the Republican radio response (supposedly to Obama's radio thing, but they're never on the same topic, so hard to see how it's a "response") -- something about working with the Dems on something, healthcare maybe. I don't think I've ever heard him before. Do you think the timing might be suspicious?

I don't know who chooses which Repub will give the response, but if it's, say, Boehner, e.g., I would say that means Enzi is the choice of the GOPe.

What is wrong with Enzi?

He's trying to make me collect California sales taxes if I sell something to someone living in California even though I live in a sales tax free state of NH.

Not that Liz Cheney would be better.

Even Rand Paul endorsed Enzi. Enzi is not even that similar to Paul in politics. Enzi was the moderate Republican standing up to the Cheap Labor Extremism of Paul and others from the start.

The amnesty is 1000 times worse than Enzi’s failed tax.

Exactly!

People are kidding themselves if they think any of these people will fix our problems.

No man or woman can fix the mess we’re in. Only He can do it and He will in His own time.

True, but our time on earth does. Ask the Chosen Race who lived in Germany during the 40's.

Bingo!!

I dont think she’ll do very well in WY. In VA where she lives, she’d probably have a shot.
