I am so sick of seeing this story. I was just talking to my grandson this evening. Tomorrow’s Jambo activities include taking a six mile hike to the top of Bechtel Summit. Out of shape kids can’t do that.
how bout we let them try and stop sheltering them - maybe if a fat kid met his problems head on, he'd understand them and maybe grasp the concept that discipline starts at the table too
“Tomorrows Jambo activities include taking a six mile hike to the top of Bechtel Summit. Out of shape kids cant do that.”
So let the out of shape kids take a two mile hike. What’s the BIG DEAL?
Bingo - Thank you!
“Out of shape kids cant do that.”
So? I thought the idea of the Scouts was to encourage effort, not ostracize those they deem not worthy. How will a fat kid understand their failure to stay in shape if they are only given tasks they can accomplish as fat kids? Let them go, but expect they must turn around at some point.
