Maryland Employers Cutting Hours Due to Obamacare: Frustration builds as the reality sets in
Washington Free Beacon ^ | 07/18/2013 | Washington Free Beacon Staff

Large employers have struggled to adapt to Obamacare provisions and are cutting hours, and insurance experts worry it will create friction between employers and employees, WMDT reports:

By 2015, employers with at least 50 full-time, 30-hour employees will be required to provide health insurance or pay a hefty $3,000 fine for each uninsured employee. Insurance experts worry it could create some friction between the employer and employee.

“We’ve seen employers starting to cut down hours to 28, 25 hours such that they will not be subject to penalty for that employee,” Keen said.

That’s exactly what Katie Frantz says has happened to her.

“The job that I currently have is part-time. And they don’t want to let me be full-time because they don’t want to pay me benefits. And I don’t even need the benefits because I have it through my husband. It’s just very annoying,” she said.

Some employers have discovered they would be better off financially paying the penalty rather than providing insurance.

Oh you groveling and contemptible employers! You think that you can out-maneuver the Federal Government.

Ha, ha.

Tough.

Suffer!

Maybe someday they will associate cause and effect. Maybe then they will get pissed off enough to do something to destroy the communists in the white hut.

The left is trying to turn the employee against the employer.

This is classic Marxism at work. Pretty soon we can expect a leader to emerge who will direct the hatred at companies. Looking at it historically, OWS was a test run for this.

Time to make an example of some EEEEEEVIL CEO’s who dare to undercut the wisdom and magnificence of our First Black President.

Football season hasn’t started yet, so FedEx Field is available for televised public floggings.

You are on the mark with that observation. The Left has long bemoaned their failure to deeply ingrain class consciousness in Americans. All of these efforts at “change” seem to be pointed in that direction.

Look for things to get worse before there is any chance of them getting better.

I have no doubt democrats will remedy the undesired effects of Obamacare that result in conversion of full time jobs to parrt time and employers holding employee headcount below 50.

How?

By eliminating the 30 hour per week and the 50 employee breakpoints and making employer provided health-care insurance mandatory for every employee.

““The job that I currently have is part-time. And they don’t want to let me be full-time because they don’t want to pay me benefits.”

And the shifting of blame to the evil, profiteering of the little guy, businesses begins....

BASIC QUESTION: Why do people start businesses in the first place?

Is it to profit and make money? Or to provide benefits to employees?

To provide benefits and pay taxes! That is all that businesses are good for....

(marxist thinking hurts)

They're right. The friction will be between the employer and employee. Relatively few voters will blame thugs like Pelosi and Obama for the natural consequences of their terrible legislation. It's a shame our schools have failed so many people.

Get your heart checked out and make sure you're sitting down before you ask Gallup to poll that.

The government can indeed formulate impossible regulations and laws that EMPLOYERS are required to obey.
The government has NO POWER to require any American to be an employer. When a prospective employer makes the decision, in self defense, to NOT be an employer the entire economy suffers greatly, while the professional works alone.
Large employers, unable to compete except by shrinking, end up hiring workers in CHINA, INDIA and wherever. Why does anyone think those countless jobs have gone elsewhere. Can YOU afford to buy a suit made by union labor in New York? I can’t
The employer cutting hours and payroll is acting in concert with John Galt. He is “striking” against that which will ruin him.

According to the Supreme Court, the federal government may dictate to employers who they must hire, how much they must pay their employees, and command them to purchase health insurance policies for their employees.

America, land of the free.

I hope future generations can find a way to preserve and pass down honest lore about what the former "America" was like before the citizens comitted national suicide and killed it dead. The liberals / communists / revisionists will do everything they can to rewrite America's history to the point it would be unrecognizable by those of us who grew up here prior to, say, 1990.

Never going to happen. It's like wondering if there will someday be a cure for stupid.

You haven’t seen anything yet. When this all fails, don’t be surprised when employees are able to sue the employer, take over their business, and operate it as an ‘Employee owned’ fully financed by .gov After all, ‘You didn’t build that.’
