If there is one hopeful note amid all the anguish and recrimination from the acquittal of George Zimmerman, it’s that growing numbers of white people have come to appreciate whiteness for what it is: an unearned set of privileges. And as a result of that dawning awareness, it’s become possible to imagine a day when that structure of privilege is dismantled — by white people.
Recall that immediately after the killing of Trayvon Martin, people of every race took to the Internet to declare “I am Trayvon Martin.” They wore hoodies. They proclaimed solidarity. That was a well-meaning and earnest attempt to express empathy, but it also obscured the core issue, which is that Martin died not because he was wearing a hoodie but because he was wearing a hoodie while black. Blackness was the fatal variable.
And so now, postverdict, a more realistic meme has taken root. On Tumblr and Facebook and elsewhere there is a new viral phenomenon: “We are not Trayvon Martin” (emphasis mine). Huge numbers of white Americans are posting testimonials and images to declare that it is precisely because they are not black that they have never had to confront the awful choices Martin faced when Zimmerman began to pursue him.
This isn’t about empathy or the posture of equivalency that empathy can tempt us to assume. It’s about owning up to the unequal privilege of being nonblack and saying, in essence, “I am George Zimmerman.” And because I am George Zimmerman, I get to have my fears trump reality. I get get-out-of-jail-free cards. I get a presumption of innocent victimhood, no matter what my own acts or attitudes....

Hating on whitey is just a proxy for hating on the culture based on God’s laws and thereby hating God Himself.
It’s a rebellion thing. They don’t hate your skin color.
They hate our values, because God gave us those values.
Better yet, stand a few inches away from a concrete wall and repeatedly pound your head against the wall until it bleeds or you drop. Also bring a MMA friend who can continue the pounding until you scream the safe word, "Travon!"

I guess it’s all in your perspective: I’m white and I see no “white privilege”. All I see are minorities being able to get away with things for which whites would be called racist, and properly so, IMO.

Yep, the monstrous killer was so sneaky as he stalked his future prey that he called the police before making the kill! The poor victim was so concerned for his safety that he called one of his friends to discuss his escape plan!

As a good friend, whose advice I value highly, said to me; "if you draw your gun it had better be smoking."
iIf you were from Mars, looking at the disproportionate number of blacks in positions of power in entertainment, or the number of sports black millionaires, you'd think it was whites who made up 12% of the population.
Like I was telling one freeper, when I use to drive a taxi in New York city a while back, there was this unwritten rule that blacks must be charged less. Not by any law mind you, but because none of them would ever pay the full fare (FORGET about tips..never)
And if you complained about it, all kinds of trouble would start - all kinds of name calling, like of course the “R” word and you would end up wasting all this time arguing (time is money in taxi driving). So you just had to put up with it.
If the fare was $5 bucks they would give you $4. If it was $8.50 they would give you $7. It was always a buck less than the actual fare. And of course they all complained why taxis never stopped for them, again using the “R’ word (racist)...Even Danny Glover the actor got involved once, I think he even sued the city stating all taxi drivers were racist.
But the thing is not even BLACK drivers picked up black people! Not because of racism, but because of the very reason you stated: Black privilege. Because they were black they felt this meant they should get a discount.
I remember one episode I drove a guy from Penn Station all the way up to Harlem, and the whooole time he just would not shut the hell up, complaining about everything. The route, the traffic lights, even my shock absorbers, and when we got there the fare was $16 bucks. And you know what he did? Gave me $7 and told me to go F myself. Thank you very much.
Go inside his place or sneak back and try to beat the crazy ass cracker. He chose poorly.
All this is the same "blah,blah" the whiny guilt tripped white liberals always do.
They had a video of a white hippie chick doing this over at moonbattery.com. She start off with the usual "We've got to do more than just let the evil white privilege go on!" Loud applause.
"We've got to send money to the cause!" Small smattering of applause.
Yeah, they (white liberals) all go along with this crap until you want their money, their position in college or the job they've got. Then suddenly they see the light of not being racist.
Racism never “died”... in the black culture.
We’re just seeing its reemergence in the “age of Obama”.
