Bet he won’t visit inner city Chicago. Too dangerous in the hood. Besides, there are lots of poor people there. He might get infected by the unwashed masses.

Will he catch a Beyoncé concert like the Mooch and the princesses did. Their security escort was truly obnoxious in it’s size. I’ve never seen a first lady go anywhere with that many escorts.

Bankrupt Illinois to spend $750K on new government shrubbery program

RasmussenBy Kristina Rasmussen, EVP, Illinois Policy Institute -

Illinois may be broke and its credit rating may be in the tank, but that isn’t stopping state legislators from creating a new “Forever Green Illinois Program” that would provide for the “maintenance and beautification of greenery” on state or local government property.

Just in case you were wondering, “greenery” includes grass, weeds, trees, shrubs, bushes, plants and other plant material.

The House has appropriated $750,000 from general funds for grants related to the Forever Green Illinois Program.

Illinois’ fiscal house is on fire, and politicians are planting flowerbeds in the front yard. This is what happens when you bail out bad spending habits with a 67 percent income tax increase – the irresponsible behavior only gets worse.

Stay classy, Springfield.

Chicago’s triple-notch credit downgrade

7/18/2013

Ted Dabrowski
Vice President of Policy

The city’s out-of-control pension liabilities and “accelerating budget pressures associated with those liabilities” has resulted in another credit downgrade by Moody’s Investors Service.

The national credit rating agency downgraded the city’s nearly $8 billion in general obligation bonds to A3 from Aa3. This is a triple-notch downgrade.

Chicago is now just four notches above junk-bond status – any further downgrades mean the city is likely to face problems borrowing money.

The agency made good on its April 2013 promise to evaluate state and local pension plans on more realistic assumptions. At that time, Moody’s placed 29 local governments under review – including Chicago.

The rating agency has long critiqued pension funds’ use of overly ambitious investment return targets that allow funds to understate their true pension shortfalls.

Based on the new Moody’s methodology, which uses more conservative assumptions, Chicago’s 2012 pension shortfall jumps nearly 90 percent, to $36 billion from $19 billion.

“... as part of his business-busting/pro-stimulus bill marathon Barack bulldozed his way into the heavy machinery manufacturer Caterpillar in Peoria, Illinois. After the President’s visit Caterpillar notified an additional 2,454 workers that they were “losing their jobs as the company continues to try to bring production in line with plummeting demand...The bulk of the job cuts - nearly 1,600 in all - [were] in Illinois at the company’s plants in East Peoria.”

Galesburg....Seriously? The only thing keeping Galesburg alive is the Burlington Northern Santa Fe. All the factories have closed down. The mall is 2/3 empty, and what’s left is struggling. What does he think he is going to accomplish in Galesburg?
