What nonsense. There's a man involved, a woman involved, and a child involved. And neither the woman, the man, nor the two of them together, "own" the child, inasmuch as --- and I hope Ayn Rand would agree --- nobody exists to be somebody else's property, or to function only at somebody else's pleasure.

The people whose actions brought the dependent child into existence, hold strict liability for that child's dependency until he or she is prepared to be independent.

Any champion of reason, liberty and autonomy should be able to see that.
