Bill Cosby: George Zimmerman Acquittal Not About Race

Comedian Bill Cosby says the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the death of Florida teen isn't about racism.

Cosby, an outspoken voice on cultural issues, says the recent trial did not prove that Zimmerman had racist motives at any point during his confrontation with Martin. That means race shouldn't be a part of the conversation regarding the case.

“Let’s not go into a racial discussion unless we really have something there,” he told radio hosts Domenick Nati and Nate Foutz.

Cosby also blasted the news media and said that he had stopped paying attention to “high-profile” court cases after the Casey Anthony murder trial because journalists were so convinced she would be found guilty and yet she was not....

Regarding the Zimmerman trial, Cosby said that he did not think the state of Florida was able to prove its case against him. “I found that the prosecution did not tell the story well. And they lost,” Cosby said.

To some people, the truth is an irresistible force.

But at least he cares what the evidence was. The rest don’t seem to even care about the evidence whatsoever. Zimmerman’s head injuries and the testimony of the EYEWITNESSES defy the story the race-baiters want us to believe. It’s awfully hard to prove that a guy who is getting his head pounded on the concrete and hysterically calling for help doesn’t need to defend himself. That’s the case in a nutshell, and those who claim otherwise are ignoring all the evidence.

Yes. Yes he does. And I should tip my hat to that, it got lost in my criticism of Bill Cosby. I have a lot of respect for what he has to say, but my inside knowledge of how he can be in real life jades me bit.

My recollection is that Bill Cosby put up a reward for information to prove the Tawana Brawley hoax was on the up-and-up.

Which certainly disappointed ME.

This morning on CSpan I heard a caller say the prosecution threw the case on purpose.
There has to be a psychosis amongst the crowd.

Well that could be. I’d like to hear him address it.

Bill Cosby: George Zimmerman Acquittal Not About Race

and...

Regarding the Zimmerman trial, Cosby said that he did not think the state of Florida was able to prove its case against him. “I found that the prosecution did not tell the story well. And they lost,” Cosby said.

Considering both of these things as a whole, and the fact that the prosecution did try to make its case a racial one, I'd venture to say that Cosby was pretty perceptive here.

What Cosby is saying is subtly presented, but it seems like at least he's showing some measure of understanding of the case and a willingness to speak counter to the black community's conventional "wisdom".

I'm sure, given the blistering criticism he is about to receive from his own community, that he may backpedal before too long, but it's good that his gut insights have been recorded. Same for Barkley. It's important that the black community see at least some alternative opinion within their own fold.

Not so fast on the pops: The racist former funny-man is saying Zimmerman walked because the prosecution blew its presentation. That’s not saying Zimmerman is innocent or anything. He’s still looking at this “through black eyes.”

Twisted "logic". He seems to be trying to calm the waters and is using verbiage that is designed to penetrate the pea-brains of those who want to go to war.

If he “lost” his black eyes, he would be labeled “Uncle Tom”. BC doesn’t want that.

That's the first thing I noticed when I heard BC's comment on the radio. Although I wouldn't call him a racist, per se (borderline, maybe), I do agree that he's still looking at this from a "black perspective" versus "human," thus limiting himself. Which is a total shame, but not surprising.

I do give him kudos as he does appear to be attempting to calm tensions.

A small anecdote illustrative of the attitude of one Mr. Bill Cosby:

My better half, Mrs. Liberty, is from Southern California, and as it happened, her Dentist was the same as Mr. Cosby’s. One day, when the Great One was scheduled to come in for a cleaning and checkup after Mrs. Liberty, she noticed the entire staff of the office was packing up their personal items and heading for the door, while a new staff of people, all black, were coming in.

They were literally restaffing the office entirely with blacks for Mr. Cosby, because he didn’t want any white employees around when he was getting his dental work done.

She asked the Dentist why he puts up with that, and he told her Mr. Cosby pays for three appointments, so he accommodates. Otherwise, Mr. Cosby goes elsewhere.

The above story indicates a very hateful mind, belonging to one who knows better than to let that mask slip very often. He is the worst kind of racist.
