With all the discussion about the city going into bankruptcy, I am not hearing anybody explain how the unemployment rate in Detroit is only 18%. Sounds like a statistic of convenience.
That 18% is probably reflective of the 700,000 who still live in Detroit. The other 1,300,000 moved out a while back, so they are not counted any more.
