Yes, a Canadian citizen, like my friend from high school, who was born in Montreal to American parents working there. She is a dual citizen, and so are her U.S. born kids who have never even been to Canada.

You have to be a natural born Citizen at birth to be president, not Citizen.

Don’t waste your time. You might as well pursue developing a free energy device. Both will be as successful.

Another outbreak of scab picking.
These people would object to the Gipper because he was once a Democrat.

Cruz was a citizen at birth - period.

Ok.

How did he get that way?

I will start with the proposition that if the primary were today, Ted Cruz would be my first choice.

That said--

Under what citizenship statute did he become a citizen at all? When was his mother born? How long had she been domiciled in the US prior to the date of birth and subsequent to the applicable statutory age requirement to confer citizenship on an out of country birth to a non-citizen father? (Reading the effective date footnotes to the Enacted Bill carefully because the changes in the periods are applicable to individuals born after a specific date.)

Recognizing that statute is subject to a legitimate Constitutional challenge (because it is a mother statute under circumstances where a father citizen's child would not be a citizen).

Or if he flunks citizenship under the citizenship statute, when was he naturalized (so as to meet the citizenship statute to hold the office of US Senator)?

As to Article II, Sec. 1, the best underlying authorities subscribe almost universally to the proposition that a person must be born within the geographical confines of the several states in order to be a Natural Born Citizen and eligible to hold the office of President.

Before you get to Article II Sec. 1, you need to think maybe he was a citizen at birth at all.

Jus sanguinis. Cruz was never naturalized. He was a citizen at birth by way of his parent being a citizen. The other way citizenship can be achieved at birth is by location or jus soli.

Naturalization is a process by which a foreigner come to the United States as a legal immigrant and follows a process to earn his/her citizenship. Citizenship can also be derived in some situations by the children of those who have been naturalized.

That’s my position also. I think there are some people here who are simply anti-Hispanic.

Cruz is a great conservative, he’s not a Rubio, and, since we have a Marxist Muslim Kenyan sitting in the Oval Office, I don’t give a flying &*%*^^ whether a rock solid conservative meets the definition of “natural-born” or NOT.

Aside from a handful of racist troglodyte conservatives who will complain about Cruz anyway? The mainstream media after shielding that lying bastard in the Oval Office for the past 7 years? I think not. So the author of this piece can just go sit on it!!!

You Dogg are mistaken. Find another dead horse to flog, this one is getting pretty tattered.

Doesn't matter dontyaknow - there are those who will do everything they can to use their "principles" to ensure our best hopes are trashed and ensure that the Left stays in power - they really really need something to bitch about so they manufacture the scenarios much as the Blacks keep condoning their own bad behavior so they can carp when they pay the price...

Cruz was a citizen at birth - period.

So was Aldo Mario Bellei who had his citizenship stripped away because he didn't adhere to the law that GRANTED him citizenship. Natural citizenship isn't GRANTED by CONGRESS.
