The DeLand gun shop owner who offered George Zimmerman a free handgun to replace the one being held as evidence by the Department of Justice said he is now receiving death threats.
Pat Johnson, who is president of Pompano Pat's, told the News-Journal on Sunday that "the violence needs to end" and that his offer to give Zimmerman a replacement Kel-Tec PF-9 is neither racially nor politically motivated. Nor, Johnson said, is it a publicity stunt. But a local religious leader said the offer is only ramping up tension.
The offer was made after Johnson said he heard media reports that federal authorities were holding Zimmerman's gun pending further investigation.
"This is so he (Zimmerman) can protect himself," Johnson said. "Regardless of what side you are on, he was found not guilty and he has the right to live his life."
Johnson, in the letter he sent Thursday to attorney Mark O'Mara, said, "We have read numerous reports of death threats against your client and believe no good would come from harming him." Johnson said he has not heard back from O'Mara.
But Daytona Beach Rev. L. Ronald Durham, pastor of the Greater Friendship Baptist Church, said the offer is inciting racism rather than quelling it....

that includes being a juror who doesn't 'think the right way', too.
The Black Ku Klux Klan just looking for someone to lynch....
This gun shop owner should just give Zimmerman a gun...and the shop owner can get ready for lock and load on those with the death threats
I’m no mind reader but I believe he spoke out for what thought was right, more people should do it.
And you know this how?
The race baiters are ramping up tensions. The store is just offering Zimmerman protection from scumbags, one thing the government who has the exonerated citizen’s weapon, refuses to do, thus violating his 2nd amendment rights. Thanks eric and zer0. For nothing
Actually, I think the store owner should have started up a web site to solicit donations. It would have given the public a chance to make a statement. The store owner would have ended up selling Zimmerman more guns than a small army, which he then could have distributed to the neighborhood watch. A win-win-win-win-lose situation (that would be the race-baiting LIBs on the end there).
No, no...Wrong...
The race industry wants to force Zimmerman wave a confederate flag, while running naked through Florida ghettos...If he dares lift a finger to defend himself, kick and beat him more then charge him with racism.
“But Daytona Beach Rev. L. Ronald Durham, pastor of the Greater Friendship Baptist Church, said the offer is inciting racism rather than quelling it....”
Look in the mirror, “reverend” azzhole.
Ok, so now ALL gun shops should offer him a free gun.
Take your pick, George. (one, of course, and anonymous donor)
(if I had one or a surplus, I’d be there)
At least offer the guy an upgrade.
Its his gun, today, he can give it to whom he pleases. He might not can tomorrow, but he can today.
LOL!
I 100% believe that Zimmerman is entitled to a gun, hell by now he’s gotta have 100s of offers — silent offers. But the only we we hear about in the MSM is this store’s actions. Knowing the circus the media is feeding, if I owned a gun store, I wouldn’t for a second share normally confidential information about firearm transfers, with a sleazy MSM.
This store owner only fed the MSM appetite for troublemaking.
He has an online store: http://bikes.pompanopatsdaytona.com/categories/Gun-Shoppers/
You are an idiot. The store owner is standing up for basic conservative principles. You are not.
I have a Jennings’ .22 just like that. It was my first pistol.
Silence in the face of evil is itself evil.
Race was not a factor, or question. The question was, did George wish for Martin to beat him to death, or did he value his life.
The media, and its aiders and abettors, along with self hating Whites both on and off this forum deliberately, willing, and knowingly destroyed the life of an innocent , decent man. For reasons known only to them.
Kind storeowner reached out. If he wanted publicity, then what is wrong or stupid about that???
