Rifle-toting woman shoots, kills man outside gas station in southeast Houston

Surveillance cameras caught a deadly confrontation outside a gas station in southeast Houston Sunday evening when a 23-year-old woman shot and killed a man with a rifle.

It happened at the Gulf station in the 6800 block of Cullen Boulevard shortly before 7 p.m., according to Houston police.

Video shows a woman, who was dressed in camouflage shorts and a white t-shirt, arguing with a man near the gas pumps. At some point, she pulled out a rifle from the trunk of her vehicle and pointed it at the man.

That is when the man took a swing at her, knocking her backward. The woman then aimed her rifle directly at him and fired off several rounds.

To witnesses’ surprise, she then pulled out her cell phone and recorded the body lying on the ground.

The victim, identified by family members as 58-year-old Lewis Daniel, died at the scene. A knife was also found on the ground near him, police said.

That could be. Glad he was wrong.

Disagree. No sane person reports themselves to the police. She should have left and then called a lawyer.

She did neither.

How could she know none of his friends or family would come looking for revenge?

No, it didn’t. They never turned the case over to a grand jury (find me a news story that says so). Corey brought the indictment herself, without a grand jury.

On what basis should she have been required to call the cops? She didn’t commit a crime; and she could easily argue someone else was going to call.

Just how many lawyers are going to pick up the phone at 7 p.m. on a Sunday?

I happen to know who I would call and know the phone would be answered by a real live lawyer within three rings.

Yup. You're right. I know Texas law like the back of my hand too. She looks like a smart coookie so I'm sure she knew exactly what she was doing. Just like I believe that pic she took was for evidence. Bullshit. That pic was going on FB or Youtube.

Zimmerman shouldn't have called the cops either.

The grand jury option was on the table. Corey dismissed it as an option. Plenty of sites stated the case would go to a grand jury, but Corey removed the option from the table by prosecuting directly.

Once Trayvon was dead, there was no other possible threat to Zimmerman and he did the right thing by staying.

This gal, didn’t know if there were or were going to be threats to here in the immediate future. For that reason, she was wise to leave the A.O.

I don’t think you are from around here? Why would you get in your car and flee?

What people “should do” and what they actually do are rarely the same. Regardless the video completely clears her.

Zimmerman thought Martin was still alive. I don’t think he found out Martin was dead until he after he arrived at the police station later that evening.

Even after shooting Martin, Zimmerman flipped him over and was straddling his back, holding down his arms and asking people now on scene to help him keep Martin subdued.

I'm not saying she's guilty. I'm saying she knew exactly what she did and she took a pic of her trophy after she did it. I'm saying she enjoyed it. The fact that she left is either because of:

A. She thought she did wrong and wanted to beat feet
B. She really didn't give a shit about the guy she just killed so she left.

Frankly I believe the answer is 'B'.

Taking the picture for evidence?

When she says he had knife, she has the picture.

Nothing wrong with having a cool head.

I was taught that you keep shooting until the target changes shape or starts on fire. But that was a long time ago . 8^)
