When you use a Chinook in a Hot LZ, you might as well paint a Bullseye on it. I have never understood this decision.
I will start this by saying this is all my speculation based on experience and not sourced except from info in the public.
The first team that was inserted and got in trouble was sent based on Afgan intel. This group was then ambushed and the decision was made to send our best and most highly trained guys in the world on slow birds to help. WHY, I am sure they had several good teams that could have accomplished an EVAC but no they send the best of the best.
I think this was an ISI setup from the start. Someone made the deal to trade these great men to help those beasts in the ISI to save face in the wake of the Bin Laden raid( State Dept). Only speculation based on experience.
Makes me sick inside to see those pictures of these great men and know that this government did not have their back. UHHG.
