UH-1s are not fast movers as they have a lower cruise speed than a CH-47F, by about 20 knots. Dispersing the force across UH-60s, if they were available, would have been a better idea but Mogadishu showed that even they are vulnerable to RPGs. Also, 3305 Hueys were lost in Vietnam.

CH-47, are large, noisy targets.

UH-60 quieter.
But either way, neither an advantage in an ambush.
