Forget Soros. The list of real defectors is long. I'm sure just the act of escaping USSR was a crime in USSR. At the bottom of the page you can see the list of "notable defectors," and they told CIA far more than Snowden ever knew (being young and inexperienced, on lower rungs of the ladder.)
