These Are The 217 People Who Voted To Preserve NSA Surveillance
Zero Hedge ^ | 07/24/2013 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 07/25/2013 6:40:59 AM PDT by LucianOfSamasota

Presenting the full roll call breakdown of the Amash Amendment (as described previously) to shutter the NSA's surveillance function...

First the Ayes, or those who voted to end the NSA's surveillance activity. Republicans in roman, Democrats in italic, Independents underlined...

And here are the 217 for whom "protection against terrorism" is of tantamount importance. Certainly more important than the privacy of US citizens...

Finally, since the margin of passage was 12 votes, it is of note that precisely 12 representatives did not vote. The following 12:

Barletta Beatty Bustos Campbell Coble Herrera Beutler Horsford McCarthy (NY) Negrete McLeod Pallone Rokita Schock

Here’s the link to the house.gov page for those of us who can’t read little tiny screen captures reprinted on another website:

You need a user log-in to access the site. Any reason you can’t post the names here?

Looks pretty even but slightly more R’s voted NO than D’s.

I made a quick glance. My rep voted Aye. Boehner and Ryan sided with Pelosi.

Bachman sided with Pelosi as well. Seems to be the insiders group that like it.

The images of the lists of names are still visible on the same login page, so you don't have to log in to see them.

Having said that:

AYES: (vote to defund)

NOES: (vote to keep spying)

Didn't Vote (political pansies)

(all the above excerpted from http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-07-24/these-are-217-people-who-voted-preserve-nsa-surveillance)

Thanks!

Your link should probably be re-posted on FR in lieu of this link. Much better quality.

The House makes it difficult to identify party in the roll call vote. But this statement sounds unusually bad.

http://clerk.house.gov/floorsummary/floor.aspx?day=20130724&today=20130725

6:21:43 P.M. H.R. 2397

POSTPONED PROCEEDINGS - At the conclusion of debate on the Amash amendment No. 100, the Chair put the question on adoption of the amendment and by voice vote, announced that the noes had prevailed. Mr. Amash demanded a recorded vote and the Chair postponed further proceedings on the question of adoption of the amendment until a time to be announced.

6:53:20 P.M. H.R. 2397

On agreeing to the Amash amendment; Failed by recorded vote: 205 - 217 (Roll no. 412).

Am trying to think of a way to take the roll call vote xml and transform it into a database where I can color code the party by the font style and parse it by party. Of course they don’t want that.

More bi-partisan backroom BS.

More Democrats voted for freedom and smaller government.

There was no “whipping,” and the Republican ‘leadership’ was on the wrong side of the issue.

Way to go Congress! (re-elect nobody)

On any vote, just look up Pelosi and see how your guy voted. If it’s on the same side as Pelosi, fire him/her.
