Like Japan, we could have nukes in about 15 minutes if we needed them. Did you know that the F16, F22 and F35 are all manufactured in Texas? Plus a ton of other stuff including helicopters, missiles, tactical vehicles, etc. Texas has everything it needs to successfully defend itself from attack. Texas is a leading manufacturing state, it has 25 of the nations top 100 cities. Its 3 of the nations top 10 ports (including the #1 port). 85% of the nation’s refining is done in Texas and Texas produces most of the nation’s oil and gas. Texas is also a leading agricultural state (in all food groups) so we can feed ourselves with out any help. We have some of the finest universities (Rice, UT, Texas AM, Baylor, etc) in the world. Texas has a world class health industry. Oh and Texas has it’s own independent electrical grid so nobody outside of Texas can turn the power off. If any state could make it on its own it is Texas.

All of what you say about the capabilities of Texas is no doubt true. And it doesn’t matter one whit. Do you really believe that TPTB will be forthright and honorable in their dealings if they think Texas is getting too uppity?

By international law Texas retains the right to revert back to the Republic of Texas.

I’m not arguing that such an international law exists. You’d have to ask the Odd Confederation of Texas Seceshers to answer that one. I also think that such a law, if it exists, is incredibly unlikely to matter as it would conflict with other more important laws like the “Law of the Jungle” and the ancient statute of “He Who Has the Bigger Guns Usually Wins.”
