John Lewis praises DOJ voting rights action in Texas, says N.C. should be next

Rep. John Lewis praised Attorney General Eric Holder's push to place the state of Texas under pre-clearance requirements for voting laws under Section 3 of the Voting Rights Act. In an interview with the AJC today, the Atlanta Democrat said he thinks North Carolina should be next.

"I'm very encouraged to see the Attorney General and the Department of Justice take this position. I think it's long overdue. ... Without Section 4 I think it's so fitting and appropriate for the Department of Justice to take the action. And I wish they would take a serious look at what has happened in the state of North Carolina right now also."

Since the Supreme Court struck down the Section 4 formula of the Voting Rights Act which put mostly Southern states -- including Georgia -- under federal "pre-clearance" for new voting laws, any state can move forward with a voting law without seeking federal approval. They can still be hit with a lawsuit under Section 2 if the law is discriminatory, a protection that many argue is sufficient.

Texas moved swiftly after last month's court decision to put its disputed Voter ID law into place. The DOJ is now siding with the plaintiffs in a case involving redistricting maps, requesting pre-clearance for the whole state.

North Carolina's Republican-dominated legislature has drawn scrutiny -- and mass protests -- for several initiatives, including a slew of new voting restrictions. The bills include a strict Voter ID law, slashing early voting, not allowing parents to claim college students as dependents if they vote where they go to school and other measures that could harm turnout among historically Democratic constituencies.

John Lewis, just another Black racist. Sill living off the civil rights movement some fifty years later.

The objective is to turn Texas blue. If Texas were a corrupt democrat state, they would have no problems with any new voter laws or redistricting.

Commie Obama sends out Eric Holder to emit another smokescreen to distract attention from the Benghazi Massacre.

Fearful of beuing Impeached for Dereliction of Duty as CIC, Commie Obama has sent Holder out to joust at Windmills in Texas.

Always a sucker for smokescreen distractions the Liberal Agenda Media (LAM) dutifully will fill a good portion of their 24/7 support time for Commie Obama on the Texas jousting windmill story.

As the jousting windmill story dies down Holder will be sent out to create another smokescreen to prevent his boss from being impeached for the Dereliction of duty in the Benghazi Massacre.

Always oblivious to what Commie Obama is trying to cover up in the Benghazi Massacre, Speaker Boehner will still refuse to Impeach Obama, appoint a Special Prosecutor, or honor the requests of the 1000 Special Forces Petitioners yesterday to appoint a House Committee with subpoena powers.

Senator Cruz is correct on his negative appraisal of Holder, but seems oblivious to the reason Holder is jousting at the impeccable TEXAS Voting Rights identification Windmill.

It is time for the House RINOs to replace Boeher with a Speaker that will issue Articles of Impeachment for B. Hussein Obama for his Dereliction of Duty during the Benghazi Massacre.

Nobody wants to say it, but I will.

This is Negro fascism as practiced in South Africa.

White people in the USA reject slavery/racism.

There really is nothing new under the sun.

It would not be that big of a deal if the new blue, were like the old blue.

Governor Perry should call out the Texas National Guard or Texas Rangers and toss out any DOJ people who go near a polling place.

It sounds like little Johnny Lewis approves of voter fraud. Most commie ‘RATS do.

Looks like we’re under Dictatorship now. This is the 2012 voter suppression by 0bama all over again ahead of the midterm elections and 2016, and no one to stop them.

As a Texan, I say screw Obama and screw Holder. Hope AG Abbott will take a hardcore stance. Texans will back him except for the phony Texans who have infiltrated our great state. And I would not mind delivering some fluid into the face of Lewis but it would not be spit I have in mind.

Likewise. My sister is a tea sipping liberal and literally hates Abbott for fighting Obamacare but she is too ignorant to discuss our differences.

I can’t believe it; John Lewis uttered three consecutive sentences and none of them contained the word ‘Selma.’

First time for everything I suppose.
