The blight that consumed Detroit has spread by contagion and has now infected many more localities in that territory once known as “the United States of America”.
“Bailout” is no longer an option, and those who advocate such a “solution” are guilty of the error of continuing to dig when they find themselves in a hole.
“Liquidation”, foreclosing on the entire city, razing it to the ground and planting it in buckwheat, until a new and real economic reason emerges which justifies building a city there, would seem to be a much more rational course.
But of course, there are vested interests which seem to think the present situation can be salvaged.
It cannot. Life support is meaningless after all brain activity has ceased. Disconnect and do whatever post mortem is necessary to determine what NOT to ever, ever, repeat in the future. Then grow the new community organically, perhaps as a “free trade” area, much like Hong Kong.
Bailout is no longer an option, and those who advocate such a solution are guilty of the error of continuing to dig when they find themselves in a hole.
They're just not digging fast or hard enough.
The Chicagoization and Detroitification of America continue "Forward!" full speed backward.
