School grades released Friday for elementary and middle schools in Broward and Palm Beach County showed significant decline, with the number of failing schools increasing in both districts.
The Florida Department of Education said statewide the number of A-rated schools dropped from 48 percent to 29 percent. Meanwhile, the number of F schools jumped from 2 to 4 percent.
Members of the state Board of Education acknowledged last week that the grading system is flawed. As a result, they decided for the second year to limit schools to one grade drop, even if they would have fallen two, three or four grades.
Without the safety net, four D-rated schools in Palm Beach County and 15 in Broward would have been Fs. Across the state, 261 schools avoided becoming failing schools.

Liberal education coming home to roost.
It’s hard to get good grades when the “teachers” are asking you to try to determine if you’re a boy or a girl all of the time.
Coming home to roost? I think, at least for the liberals, it is coming home to just were they want it. Mao Tse-tung, Lenin and many other communist dictators understood early on that an educated populace was a populace that was hard to control.
What I think is the worst thing about the Florida schools is that the teachers are forced to spend most of their time dealing with the ‘disruptive feral yout’s’ who have no desire to be in class and do their best to ruin it for everyone else.
My Personal solution? Be a ‘Disruptor’ in class and be assigned to a school four hours by bus each way from your home. Put it in the middle of the Alligator and Python infested swamp and tell them no one goes home until all your class work is done.
Don’t like it? There’s the door, walk home.
Of course it would never be done, their poor little civil rights are being violated. But whoever looks out for the ones whose one chance at a public school education is being destroyed by these... Feral youths.
School ratings are dropping so the rating system must be flawed? Perhaps there is an alternate reason ...

But but but but, we need to throw more money into the bottomless pit. What is hillarious is when you hear of threats coming from govt that essential services police firefighters and teachers will need to be cut to balance the budget in any of our cities you scratch your head. How in the world does teachers fit in the same sentence as police and fire fightersas essential sevices? The scrools have now turned into outpatient mental health services, daycare, nightcare, babysitting,free breakfast, lunch and dinner, programs non related to education, propaganda brainwashing centers for the green initatives. fewww Im dizzy
Schools in general are crap, unions play their part, but let’s not forget all the failing students who just aren’t interested in an education and don’t have caring parents to motivate them.

Maybe some kids are just destined to be ‘worker bees’ and should be put to menial labor. That may be a good fit for them or it may be their ‘come to Jesus’ meeting and could change the way they look at school.
You forgot to mention their role as the provider of “free K-12 education” to every child, including the children of illegal immigrant parents, and young kids just sent on rafts and boats to the USA...
Don’t worry, the folks who designed the fixes to the last failures, are going to present a new plan that won’t work very soon.

1) Institute a system of compulsory attendance socialist-entitlement. collectivist, and prison-like “schools”. Subject the children to lukewarm and generic Protestantism. Do this for one to three generations and the nation gets Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
2) Then gradually increase the secularism until the children are subjected to a non-stop secularism that merely nods to God on occasion. Increasingly make the schools more prison-like. Do this for 2 more generations and the nation votes in Lyndon B. Johnson and his destruction of the black family.
3) Then impose complete godlessness along with continued socialist-entitlement and collectivist based indoctrination but stir in heaping amounts of Marxism. Result: Clinton and Obama.
See! It is **easy** to educate a nation of Trayvons. That was the plan from the beginning. The education system isn’t broken it is working **exactly** as the 19th and early 20th century progressives planned.

Remember when they left phonics in the dust, and kids had no idea how to sound out words?
I mean some of this was so overt.
As the former head (now deceased) of the NYS teacher’s union said: “When students start paying union dues, then we’ll start teaching them.” [Exactly what he’d teach them he doesn’t day.]
