TALLAHASSEE For the past 12 days and 11 nights, a crowd of college students, young political organizers and even some retirees have been walking the halls of the Florida Capitol, sitting outside Gov. Rick Scott's office and sleeping on the building's hard marble floors.
What brought them here is the death of Trayvon Martin and acquittal of the man who shot him, as well as racial profiling and juvenile justice issues highlighted by the death of the 17-year-old Miami boy. And as media attention has grown, so has their number and their resolve not to leave anytime soon.
"I'm prepared to spend a whole month, a whole season," said Ciara Taylor, political director of the grassroots group Dream Defenders, which started the protest. "I'm prepared to be here until next legislative session. I'm prepared to do what it takes, and we're all prepared to do what it takes to win." ....
And Friday, famed singer and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte joined them and marched into the anteroom of Scott's office with the group's organizers to call for a special session.
"It makes my autumn heart dance like spring," Belafonte, 86, said of the number protesting.
Former Weston-area Sen. Nan Rich, a Democratic candidate for governor, plans to visit the group Saturday, though the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has said she will not be allowed to enter the building because it is closed to the public. However, another legislator could escort her in.
Rich said she was "proud" to support them. "These young people are very idealistic, and they feel this is their way to be a part of the process," she said.

Another professional protester.
Throw them out in the street. It is not the government’s job to babysit these idiots.
So they think jury decisions should be made based on who screams the loudest and protests the most?
And Governor Scott will do nothing.
Typical Republican Pantywaist.
The trail is over. It didn’t even take this long.
Go homely...
BTW: The trial is too... :^)
This is what happens when you don’t get a riot.
I’m not sure which is worse now...
Just kidding. Riots destroy people and property... no question there,
I’m just waiting for them to track down Zimmerman, and get themselves a coil of rope, a horse, and a sturdy nearby tree and be done with it.
These socialism infected race-baiter are costing the taxpayers over 10,000 bucks a day, IIRC.
Jail ‘em and get some of that back in fines.
In this climate anything could happen. Perhaps Obama can then come out and call for calm, since he will have gotten exactly what he wanted and no need to seek justice then.
I saw the videos. A lot of them are already homely.
No law enforcement officers in Florida, eh?
Of course..its the Lib way...It’s all about FEEEEEELINGS.
Oh no....He needs to keep this ginned up to the midterm election!
Sooner or later they run out of food, or can’t pay their cell phone bill.
Then poof: they was gone.
Until it gets cold or fades from the headlines.
With Obamaphones, EBT cards, and transit passes, they can stay as long as we keep paying their bills.
LOL... that’s the only way they can go then. How come leftist women are almost exclusively uglier than the rear end of a pit bull?
No wonder they’re so dead set against bringing kids into this world. It would remind them what they look like.
They were probably bussed in from Madison.
