I’m an attorney. I was in court the other day waiting for my case to get called. A black lady showed up for her arraignment on petty misdemeanor charges IN HER PAJAMAS. This seems to be a trendy thing in the black community. Show up in your pajamas, house robe, and slippers. And of course the wear-your-pants-so-your-ass-shows is still all the rage. I mean, seriously? Your folks started you out slow with a name like Shineeqwa anyway, so then you appear in front of a judge in your PJs? I don’t know what to say, except may have at it, just don’t be surprised if you don’t get that job, or that deal on your misdemeanor. You made your choice. Quit complaining.

Heartily agree. Was arguing with a lib the other day when she cited some study that had been done wrt job applicants responding to help wanted ads. One group, “Gregs” and Annes” obtained more favorable results than “Shaneequa and L’Shawn”.

As you said: These names are choices. Maybe they are culturally rich and I am a cultural luddite and fie on me. As you know, although discrimination by race etc; is illegal and prohibited, discrimination over attitude is not. I was sued by an angry employee whom I fired, and I had documented his insubordination pretty well. I won. These names, sorry, pre-broadcast attitude. Yes, I know, it would absolutely destroy their self esteem to re-type their resume “Shelley (Shaneequa) ———”. Uh huh. It could easily destroy my company to suffer a lawsuit by an ethnic opportunist. And guess what. I’m free to avoid it, if I can. The results are obvious. IMO 0bama has set race relations back 60 years, and the residue, in terms of Black (un)employment will persist for a very, very long time.

I used to see that too. Guys in scuff slippers (’Romeos’ and fuzzies) and the ladies in housecoats and PJs.
I’m guessing they just need more time to ‘assimilate.’ Maybe in another 400 years they’ll figure things like this out.
